Restoration of a Listed Property in Surrey

Listed Property Surrey

At Hallmark Bespoke Decorating, we were recently invited to undertake the external redecoration of a listed property in Surrey. Due to the scale of ongoing building works, the project is scheduled to begin around September 2025.

Upon our initial inspection, it became clear that previous decorators had overlooked the presence of a lime-based substrate. Instead, a modern plastic-based masonry paint had been incorrectly applied. This mismatch had severely affected the building’s ability to breathe, resulting in widespread paint failure.

To restore the exterior correctly, we will use a DOFF system to gently and thoroughly remove all existing layers of paint without damaging the underlying substrate. Once the surface has been properly prepared, we will apply a Keim Fixativ primer, followed by a coat of Keim Grob. To complete the mineral finish system, we’ll apply a final coat of Keim Soldalit-ME, which offers excellent durability and breathability, essential for a property of this nature.

For the timber elements, all woodwork will be carefully prepared and finished with two coats of Bedec Barn Paint. This high-performance product offers outstanding adhesion and a tough, long-lasting finish suitable for the demands of an exposed, historic structure.

This project reflects our commitment to using the correct materials for heritage buildings, ensuring both aesthetic quality and long-term performance.
