Overview:
Hallmark Bespoke Decorating was recently commissioned to carry out specialist timber restoration and exterior painting on a prestigious residential property in Esher, Surrey. The client had noticed visible deterioration of external timber elements due to long-term water damage, prompting the need for expert repair and protection.
The Challenge:
Over time, the original softwood timbers on the property had suffered significant water damage, leading to rot and a compromised appearance. A durable, long-lasting solution was required that would not only restore the look of the property but also provide long-term protection against the elements.
Our Approach:
We began by carefully removing the damaged softwood timbers and replacing them with high-quality hardwood – a material known for its superior durability and weather resistance.
To ensure maximum longevity and aesthetic appeal, the new hardwood was thoroughly prepared and treated using a multi-layer painting system:
- An aluminium-based primer was applied to seal and protect the wood from moisture penetration.
- This was followed by a coat of Zinsser Cover Stain Primer, ideal for blocking stains and providing excellent adhesion.
- Finally, we applied two coats of Bradite Exterior Eggshell – a premium, microporous paint that allows the timber to breathe while offering outstanding protection and a flawless finish.
The Result:
The project was completed to the highest standard, resulting in a beautifully restored exterior that enhances the property’s curb appeal. The breathable paint system ensures ongoing protection against moisture, preventing future damage and extending the life of the timber.
Another successful project delivered by Hallmark Bespoke Decorating – trusted specialists in high-end residential decoration and restoration across Surrey and the surrounding areas.
What The Customer Said:
I contacted Simon as we needed a good number a external beams and woodwork replaced and then decorated. I wanted a quality finish after a disappointing experience the year before. Simon was able to introduce me to a first class carpenter (Ben) who Simon works closely with – Ben replaced and fixed the new hard wood timber.
Simon also introduced me to someone to erect the scaffolding. All very efficient. Simon undertook the decorating of the new wood, masonry and some existing timbers. Overall I am very happy with the result – both carpentry and decorating are to a high standard and its good to come across people that care about what the client wants.
